April was another incredible month at ARA, filled with events, partnerships, heartwarming rescues, and continued community support. Here’s a look at everything we’ve been up to!

🌟 Special Visitors & Support
Our wonderful long-time supporters, Sanné and Ken, returned to volunteer and help boost our social media presence by capturing beautiful videos and photos of our animals. They also made a generous donation of harnesses, leashes, and other much-needed items. Thank you both for your continued kindness and dedication! 💛

🤝 New Collaborations
Tivoli Hotel – Vilamoura
We kicked off an exciting collaboration with the Tivoli Hotel, including a professional photo and video shoot featuring our puppies and team during a fun Yoga With Dogs session. The first official session is scheduled for May 10th – stay tuned to our social media to join in!

🏆 ARA Named Finalist – Worldpackers Annual Awards 2025
We’re proud to share that ARA has been selected as one of the finalists for the Worldpackers Annual Awards. Out of more than 9,000 hosts worldwide, ARA was recognised for the meaningful and responsible volunteer experiences we provide. This is a powerful testament to the incredible work done by our team and live-in volunteers!

🎉 Community Events & Awareness
Go Green – Tavira Plaza
We joined forces with local associations at the Go Green sustainability event hosted by Tavira Plaza. It was a great opportunity to promote environmental awareness and responsible animal care.
Vilamoura Easter Market – April 18–19
We were once again invited to take part in this family-friendly market, where our adoptable dogs stole many hearts! Thank you to all who stopped by and showed your support.
Tavira Shopping – Adoption & Fundraising Day – April 12
Our team organised another successful event, raising donations and spreading awareness while connecting with families eager to adopt.
Music Association Memorial – Faro – April 5
We were honoured to be part of a touching musical event dedicated to a late supporter, with proceeds benefiting ARA and cancer research.

🏫 School Outreach
Quarteira School – April 2
We visited Abelheira School with author Susana Jorge, who read from her book Gota & Pingo—part of whose proceeds go toward helping our shelter.
Faro School (Patacão) – April 3
Children learned about animal welfare, met our dogs, and gave out plenty of cuddles. We love educating future animal advocates!
ASMAL Visit – April 18
A group of young people from ASMAL, a mental health association, visited our shelter and bonded with our animals through petting and interaction. A beautiful day for everyone involved!

🆘 Recent Rescue
We rescued a mother dog and her 5 puppies, which were found abandoned in a field inside a cardboard box. All are doing well, and we’re hopeful they’ll soon find loving homes. 💕
